Innovations at Dr. Hager

Modern medical technology supports our high demand to offer you a gentle, effective and at the same time efficient treatment. Particularly in the field of computer-aided diagnostics the latest technology is always available for you and your health.

  • Digital Intra-Oral Camera
  • The latest technology especially for implantology
  • Digital endoscopy - for complex implantations
  • Digital Real-Time X-Ray - 70-80% less radiation than conventional radiography
  • Computer tomography with CAD measurement for exact planning and navigation especially for implantations
  • Usage of magnifying glasses and micro cameras allow high precision treatments
  • Cerec - Computer controlled milling unit for ceramic inlays (Sirona)
  • In-house dental laboratory

The Digital Volume Tomography

The digital volume tomography device is a technical innovation. It makes it possible to create three-dimensional images of the facial bones with a significantly lower radiation exposure compared to conventional devices.

  • Important anatomical areas (e.g. nerves) can be displayed much better than with conventional X-ray imaging. This is a crucial factor for minor as well as major surgical procedures.
  • The jaw and bone structure can be visualized with high precision meaning that e.g the use of dental implants can be planned more reliably.
  • Easier determination of therapeutic possibilities with respect to the bracing of dental implants, in particular in connection with a lack of bone substance.
  • This results in greater treatment safety and better predictability of the planned procedure.

In contrast to the commonly used X-ray imaging, this special tomography procedure allows further diagnostics, especially in the field of implantology. Specifically, the optimal position of the implants can be planned, based on the three-dimensional image of your dental and jaw structure.

Crowns and bridges made from Pressable Ceramics

Using the latest computer technology, we produce inlays, crowns and bridges made from ceramic, completely abandoning the use of metal. The material used is named "Zirconia".

How does this work?

After preparing the tooth and removing its cavity we will take an impression that will be measured by a digital 3D scanner. Using this data, the computer program CAD/CAM is able to design your dentures. A computer-controlled milling machine will then cut out the exact form from a ceramic block - this procedure will we done at Dr. Hager's own laboratory. By adding another layer of special ceramics our dental technicians will adjust the color and shape for a perfect finish that matches your set of teeth exactly.

What makes this treatment so valuable?

These kinds of crowns and bridges are suitable for people suffering from allergies. Not containing metals, they are also easy to handle for your organism. A natural tooth is translucent. Tooth replacements that include metallic components are not fully translucent, making them look less lifelike. By using the new Zirconia Ceramics, this negative effect is avoided as it lets light come through. Another material advantage is given by the white color, so you no longer have the problem with dark metal edges that could appear from time to time. As you can see, this ceramic material is an ideal possibility for aesthetical front teeth. It also offers beautiful and natural results in the lateral tooth area.

Metal free Ceramic Implants

These days, ceramic implants are composed of zirconia ceramics, which is an extremely shatter-resistant material that offers optimum biocompatibility. And because they are white in color, ceramic implants appear very much like natural teeth. This aesthetic advantage is hugely beneficial, particularly when treating visible areas (e.g. front teeth). This is especially true if the associated gum tissue is very thin. Zirconia implants are metal free, which is a bonus for allergy sufferers.

Advantages of zirconia implants:

  • Great appearance and no showing of the implants, as they are tooth-colored
  • Very high gum compatibility (tissue tolerance)
  • Durability and stability like titanium implants
  • Compatible with all modern preparation and surgical techniques

Disadvantages of zirconia implants:

  • Demanding for the patient: the ceramic implant needs to rest until its completely healed
  • No long-term studies available

Due to its many interesting attributes, the field of ceramic implants is a current focal point in international implantology research. Since 2004, we have successfully deployed various ceramic implant systems. The development of new ceramic surfaces has paved the way for considerable advances in the field of immediately loadable ceramic implants. There are few long-term studies into ceramic implants, as they are still a relatively recent invention, as compared to titanium implants.

Zirconia implants differ from current titanium implants in terms of surgical technique. Assuming that surgeons adhere to the somewhat more complicated treatment regulations, zirconia implants are comparable with current titanium systems when it comes to durability, and provide even better performance in terms of mucous membrane compatibility.

Orthodontics - For Adults

Adults, too, wish for beautiful and straight teeth. Sometimes earlier treatments were not successful or the issue was neglected in teenage years - the result may be disagreeable dislocations. We can offer effective methods to achieve excellent results even for adults in just a short time. We combine the methods of orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry.

Removable and invisible braces

Especially for adults we preferably use orthodontic appliances which are removable and not visible from outside. These might be the Crozat appliance or the bite plate (see above). In most cases we can do without fixed and aesthetically bothersome appliances and you will not experience significant impairment in your every-day life.

Bite plates - just for the night

Veneers, for example, may not only be used in making unattractive front teeth more appealing, we also use them to optically correct dental displacements. If you have problems with your jaw joint or harmful dysfunctions like teeth grinding you will find a Bionator treatment helpful. This method also yields good results in snoring therapy.

Laughing Gas Sedation

Because of the easy handling of the new technological generation more and more people are happy about the laughing gas sedation. After the treatment it is not necessary to be accompanied by someone and there is no need for an abstinence from food before the treatment.

What is Laughing Gas?

Laughing gas has been used for 150 years with great success. Your dentist uses a certain instrument to administer the gas. With the help of a flowmeter, which is diffusing the gas with oxygen, the laughing gas is dosed especially for you. A fitted mask will be placed over your nose so you can inhale the mixture.

How does Laughing Gas work?

After a few breaths you will feel light and relaxed, but you won't lose your consciousness and are responsive all the time. The gas also has a calming effect, is reducing your fear and works pain-relieving. After the treatment you will be able to drive after a short while.

How save is the Laughing Gas Sedation?

The dental gas sedation is a save method of treatment and is a daily routine in many countries. In the United States for example, the treatment with laughing gas is standard in most of the dental practices. The treatment offers a high patient safety and therefore a good option for children as well.
